The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The reason for two posts like this in a row will be explained in the section headed...'The Ugly.'

The Good:
  • Family being here, getting a bike and hanging beautiful pictures in my house
  • John being understanding with how tired I've been recently
  • The glorious, glorious invention of DVR
  • The second lesson in church today (Philippians 4:1-9)
  • The hymn we always sing for a baptism (Hymn #490 'I want to walk as a child of the light...)
  • Blueberry pie
  • Twitter (I'm beetee over there, if anyone reading is interested)
The Bad:
  • Family leaving
  • Little kitty scratches
  • Not playing clarinet recently, still
The Ugly:
  • Not being inspired enough to write anything substantial. At all. I'm blaming it on my job.
My writing flow has been completely disrupted because of this job. I don't like it and am not functioning well because of it. If you're reading...ask me some sort of obscure question or give me something funny to write about. Comments totally welcome.

Thanks for reading

Half-Hour Till Midnight

I supposed I only have a half an hour to write this, for it to count as a daily post for NaBloPoMo...so here goes. Everything that made me happy about my Sunday that I noticed in a little under a half hour.

I sing in my church choir. I supposed you could consider today my premier performance in the official Trinity Episcopal Church robes, but I am always the congregation member singing slightly too loud. When it's all said and done, music is definitely what brought me back to church and to God, really. My parents wanted religion to be my personal choice and let me find it when I was ready. So I found Trinity after my grandfather died in 2006, sang their songs and have been attached ever since. Music has sort of been absent from my life all summer, as my clarinet hasn't been touched since last December (for shame...this will change soon. It has to) and my guitar is being loaned out to a friend for a guitar pedagogy class (it's okay, I currently suck anyway). Singing didn't used to be my thing, but singing in church today made me feel so much happier.

My mom came in town today from Texas. This, too made me happy. The drive to BWI was absolutely beautiful. The sun roof was down, Sara Bareilles' "Little Voice" was blaring out the windows and the leaves are all starting to turn over. Belting out the tunes and coming closer and closer to seeing my mom again were both absolutely amazing.

I'm glad she's here, and she'll be here until Thursday. It's been an interesting ride getting settled, and she seems impressed that I'm not living in some sort of squalor with thousands of empty boxes of macaroni and cheese and empty bottles of cheap vodka lying around all over the place. Maybe not that bad, but you get the picture. I've done alright taking care of myself, and she'll be here to baby me and set me up with a few more necessaries (and unnecessaries).

I'm sorry I'm not more interesting late at night...I'm working on it. Thanks for reading.
