First and foremost...MEET MARLEY! This fluffy, black bundle of joy is the newest addition to my house. She came yesterday after some friends contacted me over the weekend and told me the couldn't keep her. She's quite sweet when she isn't tearing down spring rod curtains quite well behaved. I'm trying out this Pet Organics No Scratch! spray to see if that will change her mind about the curtains. I suppose it hasn't been on long enough to tell a difference, but the reviews I read are not promising. (I just picked it up after John called and said he caught her halfway to the ceiling this afternoon). I think she's adjusting quite well, though. And yes, my friends did name her after Bob Marley.
Yesterday, in general, was a warm and fuzzy sort of day. After stopping in at Shepherd, I walked up to Mellow Moods for a Berry Buzz smoothie and a yogurt parfait to take to work. My English 101 professor, Dr. Becker, was in there. She asked what I was up to these days, and seemed delighted about my choice to head back to school for my masters' in English education. She remembered that I had her English 101 class with a learning community, which impressed me since it's required of everyone at Shepherd and it was...five years ago.
I'm one of those kids who never really spoke out in class. I always figured, and preferred that teachers not notice me. I held this through to college, only to discover that professors actually did notice me. I was pretty honored that Dr. Becker remembered me and stopped to talk to me about my class schedule for next semester and tell me that my "glow" will inspire students.
I certainly hope so.
It was nice to hear that. That something I'm not yet qualified for is a good fit, but at work all anyone does is yell at me...and that's something I'm (degree wise) over-qualified for.
But that's a story for another day.
Thanks for reading...
